What is Abstinence-centered Education?
Unlike other approaches that focus on contraceptive use, abstinence-centered education promotes primary prevention and teaches vital life skills that empower teens to avoid all risk by choosing abstinence. Such skills include: identifying healthy (and unhealthy) relationships; accurately understanding STDs and contraception; setting goals; healthy decision-making; and character building.
